Billiard Playing on a Sunday

To the constable of the Corporation of the Town of St Genevieve and New Bourbon
Greeting
Summon Sebastian Burtcher to appear before me a Justice of the
Peace in and for the township of Ste Genevieve, in the County of Ste
Genevive on the first Monday of October 1823, then and there to
answer for Jean Baptiste Bassin, Joseph Bogy, Antoine Debrewl, Charles Gregorie
and Ferdinand Rozier trustees of the said corporation for
the breach of ordinance of said corporation on
the information of John Oklass for permitting to be used within said corporation on
Sunday the 21st day of September 1823 between the hours of eight
o'clock in the forenoon to eight o'clock at night of that day
one Billiard Table under the penalty of twenty dollars.
Given unto my hand the 22nd day of
September 1823

Billiards to be played on Sunday on 21st September
1823. On ? the terms executed the parties
appear and by consent posponed the law of the
cause Until Monday next taken the party appears
and the matters in ? being Submitted, it is considered
by the Justice that the said trustees not legally in office and there for not
competent to maintain said action, and that the defendant remove his code
from which decision the plantiff by said prosecution appeals.
